Bridge loses its index when closed

I am working with Bridge CC 8.0.0.262 on an iMac with ~90,000 photos stored on a Windows Server. Yes, I know, working from a server is a problem to begin with. However i finally figured out that by using smart collections I can get Bridge to index the files so I can search and use keywords like I need. However, whenever I close Bridge and reopen, it has to completely reindex all 90,000 files. This seems very unnecessary? Is there a way to have it use the previous index? As you can imagine, indexing 90,000 files on a server is not a quick task.

In my cache settings i have the size set to the maximum, compacting cache is turned off, as is the purge cache setting.

Edit: Fixed my grammar.

There may not be a fix. Bridge has problems with large numbers of images and with servers, and its always going to be slow. You are really getting beyond what a regular file server is good for.

Good morning, check out the new export cache functions in Bridge CC October 2018 release:

Hallelujah!

We've got to update our OS and start to install all the updates (slow going in our environment) and test this feature out. About time!

Unfortunately this happens with Bridge, sometimes even moving away from the folder you are working on will cause Bridge to unload its cache and then not find files.

With 90,000 files, you may want to look at a higher-end DAM to manage things. Macs unfortunately have problems with SMB on older Windows servers as well, although Server 2016 has improved things considerably.

Thank you. Unfortunately a new DAM isn't an option available to me as I have no control over what they do with the servers; I just have to try and make what they give me work!

Hello, do you use a central cache, or is the cache in the folders of images?

I have it set as a central cache on my machine. It doesn't seem to want to cache into the network folders.
