Question

Bridge misses some labels

I use bridge for selecting my photos, usually with labels, by presing "6", "7" while showing them in full screen.

Since bridge 2021 update, and also with 2022 update, if I work this way, some of the labelling is missed.
I mean sometimes I press "6" and the photo gets labelled, but other times no. So I get only part of the photos I need selected.

I thing it has to do with these version of bridge showing the photos a bit slowet, and recharging them once in screen. You can see for a brief moment the message "loading high quality preview" (Or something like that, I have the spanish version)

I have tried several changes in the cache options but nothing worked, and I am back working with Bridge 2020, as it has no problems.

Thank you!

Hi Iñigos,

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you labeling too fast. One of the things that's different with 2022 over 2021 (and everything previous) is that the Bridge team did everything they could to speed up thumbnail deliver. I think when thumbnails are being created, access to anything else it partially pushed aside. In other words, it can't chew gum and walk at the same time.

What you are referring to "recharging" is actually first putting SOMETHING on the screen, and as it gets time, it tries to put a higher quality version as soon as it can. Here's what controls that:

When an initial version is displayed, there is a black box around the thumbnail. As the thumbnail is fully developed, that box goes away.

Anyhow, what I'd like you to try is to slow down just a tad. As you label, look for some sign that Bridge is responding to what you did and showing the result.

And your English is excellent! I thank you.

Thank you for the quick response!

Yes, I label very fast :-). If I try and slow it, it works (as I see the blink of the full screen photo when Bridge puts the high quality photo).

But that is my problem, as I had a very good system and was very fast labeling a batch of 1500 images, and now I have to slow it (and take a lot of care not to miss one photo if I press to soon).

Is there any way of stopping Bridge of showing those higher quality versions to work faster?

It happens to me all the time, adobe changes something (for better) and it is a problem to me. For example, the new Camera Raw masks are incredible, but slower to me to make quick adjustments on a lot of images.

Thank you

Ha! You must be like the robot in a science fiction movie where they're reading and turning pages faster than any human!!

Well seriously, try this setting and see if it keeps up with you. Please let me know.
