Bridge open all types of files in AfterEffects.

After update to 9.0.2.219 x64 (Win 10) Bridge opens all kind of files in AfterEffects.

.psd, .jpg. .indd, .pdf, .xls you name it. ALL.

Resseting file types associations - no change.

Resseting all preferences (Ctrl+Alt+Shift start method) - no change.

Any ideas?

To be clear, opening from Windows finder works correctly, just double clicking inside Bridge opens AE.

Dear Users,

We have released new version of Adobe After effects (16.1.1 Build 4) to fix the above issue. It is available to install via Adobe Creative Cloud application.

Please let us know if you face any issues.

Thanks,
Siddharth

Thanks for posting a work around for this... my instinctual habit is to double click the file in Bridge to open it... imagine my joy having to watch AfterEffects open, and then having to close it, over and over and over and over... LOL

Same here. There's no limit for Adobe's incompetence. Unbelievable…

Why is it that when I click on "Reveal My Startup Scripts" and a folder opens up, I cannot see the AfterEffects script? Where is it? Maybe it could be edited?

What a PATHETIC JOKE of a company - I update your broken software in the hopes it might fix the bugs that plague my daily work routine, only to discover a new bunch of totally random, retarded, lazy bugs! If I was paying to rent this broken software, and not my employer I would sue you asses off. You people have no right to maintain a monopoly over design software if you cant even releases stable version of your flagship programs AFTER CONSTANT UPDATES!

Easy there.

First off its a script that was issued by the After Effects crew.

Has nothing to do with Bridge. Keep it clean or I will lock the thread.

Each app has different updates, at different times and so this kind of issue can rear its ugly head.

I wish Adobe would do a better job as well, but I am involved here to help and see issues all the time.

Some are Adobes fault, often its hardware or operating system issues.

Like I said, my system does not have that issue. Doesn't do you any good to hear that, but it does effect people differently.

And don't bother flaming me either.

I am not an Adobe shill or employee. I am here to help when I can.

They know its a issue for some people and they will get a fix out asap.

I wasnt even talking or replying to you - my anger was directed at ADOBE for constantly releasing buggy software that affects my work flow on a daily basis & I will express my anger IF I want, this situation is absolutely frustrating and Adobe should know that they are actively angering paying customers. This unprofessional, inexcusable INCOMPETENCE is never ending with Adobe. The reason im back here is that currently Bridge is completely frozen; its not even labeled as "not responding" within activity monitor even though it clearly isnt responding.

Anyway, as I said I wasnt replying to you and I have no animosity towards you, however when you try to pass the buck to the hardware manufacturer,in this particular case, it does come across as a little "shilly" - I understand you want to maintain your good rating & "relationship" with Adobe (although honestly I cant understand why if they aren't paying you) BUT when the only change on my system is the updating of Adobe Apps and then suddenly I get these new glitches / bugs, this serves as PROOF that the update is at fault & that Adobe didnt even bother to test their software on  one of the most common hardware configurations (imac retina 2015 - latest OS) They are expecting / relying on their paying customers to waste their time working as beta testers for Adobe. This is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Please pass this message on to your adobe contacts & please stop taking other peoples anger at Adobe so personally, unless you are working for them, my message was in no way directed at you.

I also had the same problem after updating Adobe Apps last night.

I've now lost about an hour of work time because of this problem.

Adobe does not bother to properly test their products before release. It's gotten to the point that I fear updating any Adobe products due to their poor quality control. As we all know, this is not the first time we've lost valuable time due to corrupt Adobe products.

On a positive note, unchecking the AE startup script, then re-booting Bridge, fixes the issue.

I believe Adobe is moving toward being a contact-management company, so CC seems to be fading in to oblivion. But don't let that stop you from dropping $636/year such regular time-sucking added "features."

Thanks to the users for figuring this out.

Same problems here after updating overnight (4/3). The unchecking in the scripts box and restarting Bridge seems works. I also had issues after updating Premiere Pro with my NVIDIA drivers. They had to be updated.

Same issue occurring: Windows 10.

The workaround with the preferences seemed to do the trick, but hopefully, we get an actual fix soon.

I've made a easy to understand screenshot of the Adobe Bridge Preferences panel setting that needs to be unchecked.

Maybe this helps

Thanks Marcinz, that seems to work, just restart Bridge after changing and now it's opening Photoshop for JPEG's as it should be - Adobe can you please fix this bug and update ASAP. Not impressed at all with this and the Premiere Pro problems last night following the update. Your Quality Control and Testing Procedures needs some work guys !! Your fee paying users are here to use your product not spot bugs.

Hi All,

As mentioned by Marcin above, the current workaround is to

go to Bridge preferences-> Startup Scripts and uncheck Adobe After Effects CC 2019 and relaunch Bridge.

We are working towards a fix for this issue.

Gautam

Because of early bugs with Bridge CC 2019, I never uninstalled 2018 and have been using it. Due to the updates pushed out today, I thought I would try 2019 again. While some of the old problems seem to be better, even more popped up now. I'll be sticking with 2018 for much longer now.

Please note: It is absolutely crazy and not user friendly to design --or let-- Bridge to open any file in anything other than the intended default program without the user changing the setting to do so. As the default program for .psd files, Bridge should make all .psd files open in Photoshop. Regardless of how helpful your work around suggestion is, it is beyond frustrating that one would have to go into the settings and change anything to have a psd file open in Photoshop.

Yes same problem - only started happening after latest After Effects update - have like everyone else here checked the file associations.

Seriously !!

JPEG files in bridge when double clicked in the content window opens the file in After Effects everytime despite Photoshop being the 'default' application for opening JPEG's.

Adobe can you please fix ASAP as it's a total pain.

Had issues yesterday with the Premiere Pro update that wasted a couple of hours of my time and now this.

Does anyone actually test anything before they release it ??? It's really poor.
