Question

Bridge renaming & skipping with TAB key bug

Hey Guys!

I hope someone can help me with this one because it turns out to be a Major Bug which really destroys a VERY important workflow for me. In Bridge i used to Rename Images by Clicking in the Filename, Rename it wit a unique Number THEN pressing TAB, so it would skip to the next Filename which was already highlighted, so i could type in the next unique Number. Now this won't work anymore, downgrading to an older version of Bridge doesn't help, the problem stays.

It happens randomly and right now i'm not able to reproduce the error. (added a screenshot anyways)

It appears that the interface displays the next number in a complete wrong place, and then eventually it will happen that the next Filename isn't highlighted anymore - thats the biggest problem. I have to highlight it again manually, which is a nightmare, because i have to rename about 2000 Images with unique numbers. Does anyone know anything about that?

Thank you so much!

christian

I've been having a similar problem, in that in my workflow I select all the files I've just imported into Bridge and do a batch custom rename, but am now finding that 2 or 3 out of a batch of say 250 aren't being renamed. When I check the sequence of the remaned photos there is a gap for the non-remaned photo, so now I have to double check which photos haven't been renamed and go back and do each one manually. I've been using this workflow for years without any problems and it's only in the last 3 months or so that I've encountered this problem. Very annoying! I much prefer renaming in Bridge over Lightroom as it keeps a tally for the last custom name used eg HC21_02345 and starts the new batch at the next number ie HC21_023465.

Hey Guys! I tried reinstalling today, not using any old preferences. working on mac os catalina by the way. i still have the same issue, that i can't rename and skip images in Bridge by using tab key. this worked for years, but now it doesnt matter which version i install, the bug stays the same. it works for a couple of pictures, then it starts to display the numbers in the wrong place of the screen. after that it won't accept any further commands. has anyone made the same experience? thanks for your help, christian

It's working fine for me in Catalina.

Jim (007) has already suggested earlier that people need to make sure that they've set Bridge permissions for access to desktop and external drives, have you checked that?

Where are your images located?

Works here just as your workflow was indicated.

My suggestion is to uninstall Bridge 11, and if you are on a windows OS, reboot your machine and re-install Bridge.

Hi Jbm thanks for your answer - uninstalled Bridge several times, even downgrading does'nt solve the problem. I'm on Mac Os Catalina, maybe this is the Problem.

Oh ......

Have you checked the app permissions for Bridge under the Catalina OS settings?
