Bridge replacing original images on Auto-Resolve

I'm using the most current verion of Bridge (as of 8/15/24 with a recent update) and I just copied some images to a folder with original edited images.  I've done this three times today and each time I select Auto-Resolve if they have the same file name.  Which ALWAYS has ammended the copied file name with a single digit.  

Today it REPLACED the edited images with a version of the copied one.  However the copied images are a lower resolution and when it replaced the edited version, it kept the high file size and resolution.

So before I spend an hour of my time that I don't have today, to re-edit those images - is there a way to restore them or is this a bug?
