Bridge slideshow picture captions

Hi

I am creating photo collections in Adobe Bridge CC (ver 8.0.1.282 x64) to use for slideshows.

When running a slideshow I want to show captions beneath each photo say from the metadata IPTC Core Description.

I have managed to show the description text by adding the metadata description field to the additional lines of thumbnail data (edit, preferences, thumbnails), and by switching on the caption to full (View, Slideshow options).

However, it also displays the file name and the rating...neither of which I want.

And, since I like to set the slides "scaled to fit" in the slideshow options, it also places the whole caption over the top of the photo, rather than underneath. Even with the "centred" option, some of the photo is overlapped by the cation.

So my questions are:

  1. Can I switch off the filename and rating so they don't also display?
  2. Can I position the caption so it does not cover-up some of the photo?
  3. Is Bridge the best software to create and show slideshows, and if not, what is?

    YES!!!  I agree, with some some tweaks Bridge could very useful.  I would aslo like the ability to save a slideshow and place certain metadata above and below images along with a print function.  No one seems to want to display headlines or descriptions with images!  How do you create an alblum for (in my case many family members and future heirs to know what something is)!

      I chose Bridge because you can produce collections which are virtual (file-pointers), rather than using up loads of space with copies of photos for each collection. It's a really good feature. I have individual photos that might end up in several different collections. Plus if you edit the original photo, the different collections are still pointing to the correct version. Plus Bridge seems a good place to manage the Metadata...again, one place to manage the data which can be used in lots of other places (the power of metadata).

      I was hoping for simple slideshow options that use file-pointers and metadata - seems a logical step to me. I don't want to produce dozens of weighty files with repeated photos and captions, that become a nightmare to manage.

      Perhaps the slideshow functionality of Bridge will improve in future versions.

      Actually, it would be very useful if either (a) each collection could have its own slideshow settings saved with it, or (b) slideshows could be saved, each pointing to a particular collection, and having its own slideshow settings (transition/caption options etc) saved.

      Just a few thoughts.

      I use ACDSee for slideshows.  It allows for custom metadata captions and allows you to work on the fly or to save and export the slideshow as a standalone file.
