Bridge slow to update previews- deleted and new files

Mac OS 10.11.6

This started with a recent update but not the latest. If I deleted a files in Bridge it will hang around in a ghost form (I can see it but I can not open it) for about 20-60 seconds. A good long while for sure. In addition, if new files are added to a folder say through tethered shooting or Image Processor, the files take awhile to show up in the Bridge Content.  The files will be there if i look through the OS finder.

Both parts are frustrating.

I called tech support and after trying things, I was told just to use my OS finder. This is not an acceptable solution. This is how the software is supposed to work.

any help is appreciated.
