Bridge stays black also after an update

In addition to what @gary_sc says, have you tried resetting the Bridge preferences?

This is a strange issue that some people have had but no one has THE fix for. For example, see this thread:

for a variety of things to try.

However, while mulling on this I wonder if you've tried to change your interface shading? IF you can see the Preferences (and I do not know if you can or not), try a lighter shade and see if that does anything? If not, than please try the other suggestions in that thread.

Sorry I cannot be of any more support but this has left many confounded. If it's of any comfort, you are not the first.
