Bridge suddenly slow and unuseable??

Hi,  I am wondering why Bridge has not been performing properly?  I can barely use the program it's so slow, I am using it to view RAW photographs. I have purged the cache for the individual folder, purged the central Bridge cache, reset preferences to factory, purged the cache in 'Go' - "Library' - 'Cache'...  and nothing seems to improve the performance? I have 8gb of RAm on my macbook air, running OSx 10.9.5, with 70GB spare on my 500gb hardrive.  I store all my photos on external hardrives.  Any suggestions greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

      What is going on with Bridge?  It's almost unusable,now...I would have been OK to roll these apparent changes into PS. Mine doesn't crash it doesn't work!
