Question

Bridge Thumbnails Automatically Resizing

On the Bridge dashboard, everytime I open a folder or close an image in Raw, the thumbnails in Bridge automatically, almost like they are changiung sizes to fit a screen resolution. Often times, epecially when in a hurry, I end up clicking on the wrong image or folder as it moved due to the resizing. Is there a way to change this setting to prevent this from happening?

Thanks in advance.

I feel your pain, I am experiencing the same thing. This never happened with Bridge 2023 and 2024, but at some point, something changed causing Bridge 2024 to do this. 2025 version does it too and even going back to version 2023, it does it now too. Very frustrating.

Hi @AlexClarkeMedia, thank you for reaching out and welcome to the community! I'm sorry to hear about your issue with Bridge. Let's get this sorted out for you!

Here are a few things you can try to see if they fix the issue:

1) Reset Bridge's preferences: Quit Bridge, hold the Alt key while launching Bridge, or hold the Option key if you're on a MAC. Select all options--Reset Preferences, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and click OK.

2) Disable Auto Layout: Open Adobe Bridge and go to the Content Panel (where your thumbnails are displayed). In the top-right corner of the Content Panel, click the panel menu icon (three horizontal lines or a small dropdown arrow) and choose Horizontal Layout or Vertical Layout instead of Auto Layout.

3) Lock the Grid: Locking the grid prevents thumbnails from shifting or resizing when panels are opened or closed. Go to View > Grid Lock.

4) Disable Monitor-Size Previews: Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced (Windows) or Bridge > Preferences > Advanced (Mac) and uncheck Generate Monitor-Size Previews.

Let us know how it goes!

Cheers!

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Actually, I finally found the setting I was looking for. For those that also need the same information, it is under the Advanced tab in preferences. Click the Generate Monitor-Size Previews.

Well, that didn't work either. Evidently, it was just happy for a moment, but didnt fix the issue.
