Question

Bridge to Bridge

l'm switching from PC to IMac and have CC installed on both computers. I'm not sure how best to move photos from my old computer to to the IMac. All I do know (I think) is that I can do it via an eternal hard drive or computer to computer. Can you fill me in on the proper procedure for both methods?

Thanks,

Remember that the Mac is more capable at reading drives than Windows. A Mac can read ExFAT and NTFS-formatted drives, but really you want to reformat (if possible) to APFS (the Mac disk format) once you are done with the PC.

Hi Richard,

Bridge is just a viewer; there is no database or anything fancy going on inside of it. Moving all of your files via an external Hard Drive is not only excellent but a good way to store your files as long as you also back up that external drive to another external drive OR back it up to a Cloud service. (Never depend upon any ONE drive to contain your digital data. Drives fail. There are two kinds of computer users: those who've had a hard drive fail and those who've not had a hard drive fail YET.)

If you have and are using Lightroom Classic, that's a different ball game and other things need to be done.
