Question

Bridge won't search keywords in all subfolders

Our organization is looking to switch from Windows Photo Gallery to Adobe Bridge. Bridge does seem to recognize keywords that were tagged in Windows Photo Gallery but only for photos loose in our main "Pics" folder and not in subfolders within "Pics".

The catch is that if I open a subfolder within Bridge, Bridge will then recognize the keywords within that subfolder. So we know Bridge has picked up our keywords but it doesn't seem to search all subfolders unless each folder has been opened. It is impractical to open hundreds of subfolders on multiple computers.

Does anyone have any insight into this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sarah

Bridge started life as Photoshop’s file browser… Today, it is still basically a “file browser” (with added index/cache etc):

Set preferences to manage and optimize the Adobe Bridge CC cache size

Manage your file cache in Adobe Bridge CS4, CS5

Creative Suite * Work with the Adobe Bridge cache

So until you “browse” there is no data – unless you force or pre-empt the issue, such as forcing Bridge to index all subfolders under a certain path, as in this animated GIF:

The Find command also has an option for dealing with uncached data:

Of course, one could create a really big cache file by doing this, or exceed the cache size limit set in prefs and not index all sub folders etc.
