Question

Cache or no cache, Bridge is slow with navigating network drive

I love using Bridge as my main file explorer and to manage project files for my work.

Using it on my local drive is great, speedy, and much more efficient than working with Windows 10 file explorer, but trying to do the same with files/folders on a network drive is painful!! 😞

I've tried using Bridge working from home with my VPN connection to a network drive and it's always been slow and laggy with accessing folders and thumbnails. When I navigate to the same network drive folder use Windows Explorer, everything is speedy as it should be, unlike Bridge.

I've tried exporting a shared cache on some folders on the network drive to see if that would speed things up with Bridge, but the results are the same. Slow, slow, slow. Exporting the shared cache has little to no effect for me.

I have resorted to making local copies of the folders on my harddrive and make the edits/changes I need and then recopying them back to the network. Question is this: Is there anyone that has found a way to speed things up on Bridge when accessing a network drive? It seems this question has been around for a while, but searching the community I have not found any strategies that have worked (I'll admit I haven't search too far down the rabbit hole).

Anything my IT staff could take a look at on the backend as well that might help things along?

thanks in advance.

No

It was never  designed to work with network drives, nor is it supported by Adobe.
