Camer raw editing is not enabled

I have a licensed copy of LR 6.5. I installed bridge and am trying to open files in camer raw. I get the dreaded message that camera raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been licensed.

I have the product,

I have tried the posted method of opening LR then closing it then opening camera raw. I still get the same error message.

Windows 11

Please help.

Thanks

"a qualifying product" means Photoshop.  ACR is a Plugin for Photoshop. Opening a raw file from Bridge requires a compatible version of ACR with Photoshop.

Lightroom (all versions) are coded internally with the Camera Raw engine but the CR version is fixed in Lightroom and requires Lightroom to upgrade with its CR version.

If you have a new camera that requires a specific version of Camera Raw, you will need new software apps (Lightroom-CLassic v14), or convert files to DNG.

What workflow, purpose, and file types, are you attempting to 'open'?

Thanks

Yes. I have an old desktop version of lightroom 6.14 and it does not handle the nef files from nikon newer cameras. I don't want to pay a subscription to get a newer version so that is a problem for me that I need to cope with.

I guess I need to convert to dng which is additional steps in the workforce.

Thank you for the reply.

I guess you have two options-

1) Batch run a folder of raw NEF files through the Adobe DNG Converter app and use the raw DNGs in Lr 6.14. Not terribly difficult once acquainted with the converter.

DNG LEGACY SUPPORT

2) Use the free Nikon NX Studio App. If you create TIFs from the Nikon App you can import these to the Lr catalog.
