Can Adobe Bridge (on iMac19,1; 8-Core Intel Core i9 ; 3.6 GHz) work over a SMB server connection, or must it remain on AFP?  Please help.

You can try it, but there is no guarantee of success.

Bridge was designed to work on a computer with external drives. It was never intended to work on servers. Some people have success with it, and then it stops working. Sometimes there are two people on the same system with the same computers and software, one works, and the other does not. Adobe does not recommend you use it on servers because of this, but again, it was never designed to work on servers.

So try it if you wish, but you will get no support from Adobe one way or the other.

    Sorry

    Thanks for your reply Gary.
I've never had a problem with Bridge reading an image bank on a server before SMB.

I'm not a networking specialist, I know Bridge. One of the more comon issue I see in these forums is 'Bridge was working yesterday on our server, now it's not. Why, how do I fix it.'

The answer is it was working by luck, not by design. So, I'll ask: do you want to run a company by luck or by design?

Our 40 person shared server is a PC (?) . . . I can find out more, I'm the only graphics person amongst 39 architects.
    I'm on a on iMac19,1; 8-Core Intel Core i9 ; 3.6 GHz .  MAC 0S Monterey 12.5.1

Adobe Bridge 2022 won't work unless I connect via AFP.
I'm told that I have to switch to a PC as they are taking away the AFP.
Is it true that Adobe Bridge will not work from a mac across a SMB connection to a PC Server?
