Can't rename folders in Bridge

I've searched around a bit, tried uninstalling but recently I've been unable to rename folders in Bridge. I'm having to 'open in explorer' and then rename it there (Windows 10). When I create a new folder it's not giving me the choice to rename it either.

Anyone else had this?

I haven't had that. Have you also tried resetting your preferences? Did you do that when you reinstalled Bridge?

Yes....I think I get the "you don't have permission" and the "folder is in use" message at various time.

Usually, I find it's because Bridge is generating thumbnails or sorting the images. What I have found to work, ALMOST every time, is to select one image INSIDE the folder I am renaming. Not open it or anything, just select it. I don't know if it is Adobe bug or Microsoft, but it appears Adobe doesn't always get access permission to all my folders. But when I have selected a file, I do.

Sometimes, but quite fewer, that doesn't work. Then I usually double-click and open a photo in "Photos", then close it. Then rename the folder.

This fixes my issues 99% of the time.

Every time I download a new version of Bridge, it works ok.

Then Microsoft pushes a Windows 10 update.

    Bridge breaks.

    Consistent throughout Bridge's life.

Now Bridge will not ask to rename a folder when it creates a new one.  It has to be done outside of Bridge.

    Frustrating.

    Hi @bleujuin

Can you check if you have Thumbnails only option selected, as enabling that option hides the name of the file and rename option from context menu is also removed as user is not shown the name of the file.

Try unchecking the Thumbnails only option, Rename option for the file/folder should be back in context menu.

    Thanks,

    Bridge Team

Thanks, that did the trick. I held ctrl & Alt when opening bridge to bring up the option.

Nope, preferences are just fine....................Adobe hasn't a clue on file management needs..............got 99 folders that need renaming to fit a cloud upload scheme and Bridge can't handle the task!
