Can we keep the cache on a dedicated SSD and never empty it?

I hate waiting for thumbnails to generate when I go into bridge. I move from folder to folder often and revisit the same folders after more than a few months, when bridge purges, I have to wait for the thumbnails to generate again. If I get an SSD that is large enough to hold 100% sized JPEGs of all my photos, can I set bridge to save all the preview jpegs indefinitely, or will it cause a problem? If I can do that, how would IO set it up?
