Cannot See Thumbnail Photo in Bridge only Icon

It seems that out of no where, I am unable to use Adobe Bridge to see a Raw image photo as I only see the icon.

1. My camera is supported in the raw converter, Canon 1DX

2. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Bridge.

3. I have purged the cache and reset all settings in the Bridge before it opened.

4. If I use open file in the Bridge, I can see the Raw photo.

5. I am using the latest version of Photoshop, Bridge and Raw converted

6. OS is Windows 10, all updates, 64bit

Was not able to find any other relevant information, so I am lost. I have been a Photoshop user since its inception, and now, with the yearly Photography plan there is no phone support or real time chat.

I await a solution- The Bridge also will not display any EXIF data; never saw this every before.

It looks like your thread got moved to the Bridge forum, which while being strictly more relevant, is like the Siberia of the Adobe forums.  The last activity previous to this thread was a full day ago!

Anyway, it sounds like something is broken.  I've never in the 20 plus years I've been using Photoshop, reset the Bridge Preferences, but the help pages say you can do it.  However I just tried and failed to make it work.  That was with the usual Ctrl Alt Shift after starting, or holding down Ctrl while starting.  Didn't do a thing.

The trouble with reinstalling is that it does not necessarily rest Preferences

This link tells you were the Camera RAW preferences are located, so you could try moving it to a new location, or changing the extension to something like BAK.  That should force a new version to be created.

After that, it doesn't take long to reinstall, and it is worth a shot.

Thanks again for your detailed reply. I uninstalled the Bridge and Photoshop and reinstalled. Works now! I have a functional Adobe Bridge.

Hi Trevor,

I checked the file association window in the Bridge preferences and what I found is quite odd.  Nothing appears with the exception of the box and the buttons.  Nothing changes when I click reset to default associations.

Thanks for you very rapid reply to my question.  Any follow-up ideas would be greatly appreciated.  There must be some code that is causing this problem.

Hi Josh

What do the image icons look like in Bridge?  Could you have somehow set Bridge to use a third party application to view the images?  Check File Type Associations ​ in Bridge Preferences and see what it is set to for CR2 files, and then maybe reset to the defaults
