Color labels on thumbnails went white on bridge, some edits completely disappeared

I depend upon my color labels for editing camera raw thumbnails on Bridge.

Today, a recent edit totally disappeared and my other existing edits spontaneously went white.

How do I get back the colors? I did not change the label preferences.

Are you editing RAW files? If so, make sure the XMP sidecar files don't get separated or you will lose all edits including labels.
