Custom Metadata Extension - Copy and Paste Issue

Using the Adobe Custom Metadata extension, you can't copy or paste text from fields like a bag or single text. You can select the text in the relevant field, but copy/paste acts on the selected image(s) instead.

This causes the user to duplicate images instead of trying to copy a metadata value from one image to others. The bug massively reduces the usefulness of using the panel in conjunction with AEM or for any QA workflows.

Does anyone have a workaround/fix for this?

As of July 16, 2025, Bridge has yet to address this issue. Know that it also affects other applications whose extension architecture rely on CEP. For Custom Metadata, we implemented a switch last year to enable system contextual menus. This restored copy and paste via right-click, which is a step in the right direction, but a panacea. This option is off by default, but it is easy to turn on: Go to Preferences, then enable "Enable system contextual menus." Now copy and paste (and some other menu items, too!) are available.

This is a known issue with Bridge and all extensions. The Bridge team is aware, and they plan to address it after MAX 2024.

So great to hear, thanks very much. Its otherwise such a great extension with so much potential.
