Doesn't Bridge support .HEIC?

I use Bridge as my main photo viewer, but when I tried to view my iCloud photos the other day, I noticed that I couldn't open any of them, because they are now all syncing over in .HEIC format. Doesn't Bridge support this format?

Hi Michael,

To support HEIC/HEIF files preview in Bridge on your Mac 10.13 machine, please install latest version of CameraRaw and Bridge CC 2018.

Then you will be able to preview the HEIC/HEIF files in Bridge.

Thanks,

Deepak Gupta

Except it requires buying the codec from Microsoft. Many of us are on corporate machines with no access to the Microsoft Store to buy things.

When will the overall scrolling, moving and what-not-performance in content panel be on par with V12?

we still haven't heard from you when and if this can be fixed?

please reply.

Hi @Deepak_Gupta1,
is it me, my machine or why can't I still have previews for .heic-images on my WINDOWS machine?
Is it a bug, is there a patch, or do you know of any workaround for the .heic preview-function for a WIN-system?
thanks in advance.

@Phibbele,

Did you install HEVC Video Extensions, published by Microsoft Corporation, from the Windows Store then purge the cache for your HEIC images?

Hi, I know this is an old post, but as I got here still looking to resolve the same old issue I'd like to share what worked for me: installing copytrans made it possible to view images in explorer, bridge and also to convert them if so desired . Be aware jpegs are about twice as large and it takes some time to convert batches, but it is possible. This is on windows 10.

I had the same issue. After Bridge showed the file format as unsupported I installed the codec and restarted the app. The files were still shown as unsupported even though they could be viewed from Explorer.

Bringing up the context menu for one of the images in Bridge, I saw there was a 'Purge Cache for Selection' option. That resolved the issue, and I needed to do it for all remaining files (select all and then choose the context menu option). I hope that helps.
