Duplicate Collections do not preserve custom sort of the original.

Duplicate Collections do not preserve custom sort of the original. Tried every suggestion - drag and drop, "pre-set" manual, duplicate file in finder. Each method scrambles the sequence in the new collection. I do not want to rename the files in the original collection. Working with Bridge 2026, Mac OS 26.2.  Is this a hopeless pursuit?

Sadly, yes. I’ve found only two ways to accomplish custom settings that stick: change the dates or change the names. I’ve been asking for custom sort orders that can be saved for purposes such as yours for over 10 years.

Thanks @gary_sc appreciate your suggestions, regrettably the collection is far too big to rename or change dates which would also complicate working with the collection down the road.  To omit a simple feature seems a weird oversight on the part of Adobe.  Again, very much appreciate your help!

FWIW, I deal with the same issue in Lightroom Classic, a database-based application (which I strongly prefer over Bridge for large image collections, in my case just under 100k images). When I travel, I take many images, and upon my return, I block out each part of the trip, select the images I wish to share, and sort them as necessary (by changing the date and/or time of the image). Then, I place the entire holiday into a collection, which uploads it to LR Mobile to share with friends. This sorting to a desired order takes an inordinate amount of time, but there’s not much else I can do to make these manual slideshows work.

So, I’m with you on this wish.
