Error Opening Camera Raw

I have received the infamous "Bridge's parent application is not active. Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature" error message.

I am running Windows 10, Bridge CC (2017), and Camera Raw CC. All are up to date.

All the solutions I have seen online involve going through Photoshop. I am using the free version of Bridge, downloaded from the Adobe website, and I was hoping to avoid having to pay for Photoshop just to use the Camera Raw CC feature through Bridge CC (2017).

I download the Photoshop CC (2017) free trial and was able to restore Camera Raw CC functionality through Bridge CC (2017). However, once the free trial of Photoshop CC (2017) ended, I was once again unable to edit files through Camera Raw CC.

Does anyone have a solution that does not involve paying for Photoshop CC (2017)?

Although Bridge 2017 is "free" the use of camera raw requires a unexpired trial or subscription to photoshop cc.
