Favorites and Collections are empty after upgrade (Windows 7)

Please Help!! I've used PS for years and saved many, many collections that I need but they are all gone after an upgrade. Can I get them back???  I am using Bridge version 10.0.0.124. I've had other issues with Bridge crashing but I think it was because I wasn't using the correct version. I found that I have 3 versions , 2019, and 2020). Can I delete the old ones? Or will I lose any information if I do? Same with Photoshop CC, I have Photoshop 2018, 2019, and 2020. Can I delete the old versions? 

 

Please help me get my collections back in Bridge!! I am totally lost without them! Thank you!!!!

Here is some more impotyant info for you.

You can find the collections folder at the following location.

Windows : C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge 2020

Mac: <Macintosh HD>/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge 2020

If you do not have the Bridge 2020 installed on your system, and choose the option to migrate preferences, then collections, keywords, metadata etc. should get migrated and should be available on Bridge 2020.

But in case you are uninstalling and reinstalling the Bridge 2020, then in that case even if you choose to remove preferences for Bridge 2020 while uninstalling, "Bridge 2020" folder would not get removed.

In the meantime(before reinstalling Bridge 2020), if the user has done incremental changes in Bridge 2019 like creating more collections, keywords, workspaces etc. then those changes would not be available in Bridge 2020 (even if you choose to migrate preferences).

So if you are installing Bridge 2020 and want to migrate all the data available in Bridge 2019. Make sure that Bridge 2020 folder does not exist(either rename or delete) to get the same state as that of Bridge 2019.

 

Clear as mud to me. I still cannot get them to appear.

You will need to search your drive or backups for files with .collection or .filelist filename extensions.

      Thanks! So I can uninstall Bridge 2019 and 2020 (my collections are in Bridge 2018); just make sure to delete the Bridge 2019 and 2020 folders, then make sure to migrate all the data when reinstalling? Is there any need to install Bridge 2019 or should I skip it? I appreciate your help soooooo much!

      You can, but Bridge 2020 will only work with the latest version of PS. 2020

      People keep older versions all the time because plug-in stop working in newer versions. so I suggest keep all your versions unless you are running out of hard drive space.

      Developers fall off the map and development stops with plug-ins.

      You would need to keep current the latest versions of ACR, Bridge and PS as they all link together.

      As for collections they should still show up in older versions of Bridge, but not the later versions.

      You will need to check which files were in your older versions and create a new collection. Dumb, But I didn't write the code.

      As Gary indicated your biggest issue is windows 7.

      Adobe no longer supports windows 7 and Microsoft will stop support soon.

      You are going to have to bite the bullet and upgrade.

      If your machine is more then 4 years old, forget the upgrade.

      You will have to get a new machine.

      You may want to keep your old machine anyway because it will be difficult to find prior versions of Bridge to install on a new machine.

        Hi Val,

         

        I hate to tell you this but Windows 7 is no longer supported at Adobe. 

         

        That means that applications "may" work but if it doesn't they can't help you. The good news is that I'm sure your collections are still there, but you just can't see them due to some conflict between your applications and Windows 7.

         

        If you update your system and still cannot see them, then folks can help you. This is NOT a conspiracy, rather it's just the reality of that line between the OS and applications always has to move forward.
