Question

Files in Bridge changed to Read Only

I added about 6,000 photos into a file and they were all fine, but now this one specific file is read only and I can't rotate images and I'm not sure how or why it changed?

Too many unknowns.

What is your Operating System and Bridge version?

You can't add photos to a file, do you mean to a folder?

How did you add them, using Bridge or via the Operating System?

6000 photos in one folder is, in my view, too many. Split them into smaller folders.

Bridge does not have the capability to alter folder Read/Write attributes. Check settings using your Operating System.

I've been doing it this way for years. I'm a wedding photograher and have been doing it this way for over 10 years. I'm using Mac Venture 13.3. ADOBE BRIDGE 13.0.8.775.

All the photos were adding by dragging and dropping from the memory card to a folder on my desktop. All the other photos I've added are fine in bridge and I'm able to rotate. But for some reason this one folder out of multiple is read-only.

So can't you alter the Read/Write attribute using your Operating System? (I am a Windows user so can't give you specific details.)

Have you considered using the Bridge Photo Downloader instead of dragging and dropping. It is generally pretty foolproof and also has lots of useful functionality such as renaming, adding metadata like copywrite details etc. It is also able to backup files as they are downloaded.

By the way, Bridge is now up to version 14.1.1.274 so your version is somewhat out of date.
