Files went missing

I was uploading some 200 pictures in raw format this weekend and I noticed I mislabeled the folder they were being exported to. Dumb move on my part, but I changed the file name. I noticed the edit files from Camera Raw were still uploading to the folder, but the photo files themselves. I really need these pictures for a deadline and would love some help on how to find them!

Do you still have them on the card they were originally on?

No I don't unfortunately; I was in the process of batch renaming them to transfer them to my desktop. The other files (like the ones I didn't like: were blurry, weird cutoff, etc.) were thrown in the trash.

The two other options I can suggest is to:

 

1) guess an image name that's missing and search for it. So, if you know that one image is "A12345.raw," search for "A12335.raw"

 

Chances are, if you find one, you'll find them all.

 

2) get an image recovery application. I've heard they work well.

 

 

For future reference, keep in mind the Save Rule: do not delete the images on the card until you have them backed up in two locations.
