Give the path bar an outline all the time, not just when clicking into it

The path bar on the Mac version is just black unless you click into it. If you didn't know to click on it you'd never know it's somewhere you can type/copy/paste. Nothing draws your attention to the fact that it's something that can be edited.

Can you make the box have the blue border all the time, or make the background a lighter color so that it makes users think "I can edit this"?

Hi, @e_c3, In all the years since CS2 with Bridge, v. 1, I have never seen nor heard of the PathBar as showing up as a black bar. And, while it is possible to "Edit" a PathBar, I can't think of too many users who know the "bird seed trail" of their computers well enough to use that as a standard approach to accessing desired folders. There are, after all, so many easier ways to get to what one wants.

Just out of curiosity, here is what I think of when the subject of PathBars comes up. Can you please share a screenshot of yours? Also, please let us know what your OS is (and what release) and which version of Bridge you are using (and what release).

Thanks for your quick reply @gary_sc . Let me clarify and say that the path bar has the same color background as the system settings/Bridge window; there's no contrast/box around the area, like there would be in a Windows folder. My folder is a dark grey/black, so the path bar background is the same color.

I'm on Mac OS 14.7.1, latest version of Bridge 2025 15.0.2.432.

In the screenshots attached, you'll see when you haven't selected the path bar field, just the folder that you're in has it's name in bold. Once you click, the box lights up with the stroke around it. Otherwise, when the field isn't selected, there's nothing calling your attention to it. Very minor in the grand scheme of things, but poor UX to not let users know that the path bar can be edited. For me this complicates things because I work in an environment with lots of different servers and I often need to direct someone to a specific folder in Bridge. Mac OS doesn't make it easy like Windows to navigate to a certain folder using the path, and Bridge also doesn't make it easy.

I've checked and the Windows version of Bridge does the same thing. Path bar is just there, nothing special to call it out.

OK, now I understand. When you stated the PathBar was black, I thought you were seeing something like this:

And if so, that would be very serious! (LOL) I'm glad to see that it's something completely different.

OK, so you want the PathBar to "appear" like it can be edited. I am not a Windows user, and I have no clue how it appears on a Windows system. I'll take your word for that.

However, this is not the place for you to make requests and suggestions for how Bridge works or could work. These forums are for folks having issues with how things can be done or getting out of holes when things are not working right. I suggest you go over to <https://adobebridge.uservoice.com/>. There, you can make suggestions such as this: I recommend that you clearly spell out what you want and why it can help you and others. Be aware that there are hundreds of suggestions, and fewer will ever see the light of day. So, be very clear in your explanation.

Meanwhile, I suggest you pass on to your coworkers how to click on the PathBar to make edits. That will help you/them now.
