Help with culling workflow

I have 8 images that are all similar, but I only want to keep one.  I really like the filmstrip view that allows me to look at all 8 at once for comparison (more useful than "Review mode," in my opinion, since side-by-side comparison isn't possible there).  In my efforts to narrow down which one I want, I'd like to be able to either (a) select my favorite from the preview images, or (b) narrow down my selection by process of elimination -- deleting the images I don't like and seeing the survivors in larger scale.  I can't seem to do this without clicking individual images in the filmstrip, deleting or rejecting them, then re-selecting the survivors, and repeating the process until I have my one.  Is there a faster way?  I'd like to be able to delete images by clicking on its preview, not on its filmstrip thumbnail.   Thanks for any suggestions!

The way I do this is to first (if not done already) Go into Bridge's Preferences, select the Labels and Ratings tab. Then UNCHECK the option that requires the Command/Control key to be pressed to get a Label or Rating on any image (simply pressing a number key does the work at that point).

Another change I make is to create a new Workspace. I have the content Panel on the right and the Preview (and ONLY the preview) in the middle. This gives me a full-sized preview.

So, at this point, I can press the right arrow key to move from image to image with my right hand and with my left-hand rate the images. With one Label andor Rating, an image is an immediate tosser while another might be a definite keeper while something else might require a 2nd look.

Don't know if that gives you any ideas or not but that's what I do and it's fast.

If you right-click in the preview panel you have numerous options including rating and labeling.
