Hi problem with batch rename

Hi

I am trying to batch rename files in Bridge - a process I have done thousands of times before, but it is insisting that I use a preset, and that I input a preset name, but when I do hit save the preset name  it just cycles through the process again and won't let me rename (the rename button is greyed out, as are the options to rename in same folder. ) Also, the only option available is to copy to another folder - which I don't want to do.

This is the first set of files from a new camera and new SD card. The card was accidentally set to write protect.  Will this be affecting bridge and if so how do I unprotect them and get Bridge to allow me to rename.  It also won't let me append metadata.

thank you!

Both these individuals are 100% correct.

You need to seriously review your workflow and change bad habits.

One day it will cost you big time.

If it was set to write protect, how was the camera taking photos?

Write protect, is write protect for any and all access to files including cameras.

There is something else going on here.

Are you on a Mac OS?

If so you maybe hitting permissions issues.

Are you accessing the files ON the SD card?

Don't do that!

First ingest the images into your computer and/or external drive. (Best to make copies at this point) and then on the copies or originals, do what you want to do with them (rename, enhance, whatever). But never ever try to work on images that are still on the SD card.

What version of Bridge and what operating system? You can't rename files on a locked volume, so that would be a problem right there.
