How do i open multiple windows from different directories? Also, why is the window bar so much smaller than others?

I use multiple tabs all the time, and have four Content tabs open right now.

From your screen shot it looks like you’re using a Mac. What computer hardware and OS is Bridge running on? Maybe it’s a resource constraint. But I’ve never seen the Maximum Tabs Opened message on any Mac I’ve run Bridge on.

Each folder needs its own Content tab; it sounds like that’s what you were trying to do already: Either choose File > New Content Tab, or click the + button that appears when you mouse over on any Content tab.

After a new Content tab appears, you simply use the Folders or Favorites panel to point that tab to the folder you want.

If the folder you want is already open on the Finder desktop, yes, it is easier to open a new Content tab in Bridge, and then drag the folder icon from the Finder and drop it on the Bridge app icon (or a shortcut of it). That instantly points the active Content tab to that folder.

If you actually want a separate window, there are two ways:

• To create a secondary window, choose File > New Window.
• To undock any tab so that it floats as a separate window, drag the tab while holding down the macOS Command key. The modifier key is what floats the panel.

I’m not sure, it is a little unusual to use it that way (for a main application window). The Bridge title bar height is actually consistent with the floating “panel” window type in macOS. For example, if you are looking at a picture in Apple Photos and you want to see metadata so you open the Info panel (Window > Info), that panel has the same shorter title bar height and smaller button style as Bridge. Other Apple apps also use that window type, such as the Inspector in macOS Finder, and floating panels in Apple Keynote, Pages, and others.

Adobe also uses that macOS compact title bar style for the Home screens in Premiere Pro and After Effects, and for the Secondary Display window in Lightroom Classic.

File>New Window or Ctrl+N opens a new window which is an exact copy of the current Bridge window. Not quite sure what you mean by “from different directories”. The windows are independent so you can visit whichever directory you wish.
