How to delete the manual sort order from a Bridge folder

I would like to have the files in filename order while I go into manual sort so I can rename fiiles without having them jump around. But even if I delete the .bridgesort folder, the order returns to a manual order I set a long time ago. Is there a way to switch to manual sort mode without activating this history. Or is there a way to delete the history? (on Mac)

Have you tried resetting your preferences?

If you have the sort order to filename, you should be able to manually move the files into the order you want. The moment you manually move a file, it will switch to manual sort order, but it should retain the initial sort by filename.

Ahh yes, this is how it used to work. I May have a bug that causes it to revert to a previous manual sort instead of just allowing manual sorting. I guess i could try moving all the files to a newly created folder which won't have a history, but this will be cumbersome if I have to do it every time I need manual sort mode.
