Question

How to locate _MG files in Bridge

Hi!

After using Image Capture to load photos onto Bridge, I'm unable to locate them, even when using the search tool in the 'finder' folder. My files normally show up in 'IMG_' format, but these ones are showing as an "_MG' file name. In Image Capture, it shows that all files have been imported, but not even finder is able to lcoate where they're at. Please help. Thank you in advanced! (If it helps, I'm shooting with a Canon 5D MIII, and loading onto a mac.)

Take care,

Katie

Hi Katie,

"Normally" when you do not tell an image application where to put the images, the default is in the "Pictures" folder that inside your personal folder (it would be adjacent to where your Desktop folder is located on your computer.

In addition if you open Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of your screen) and type in a date, it will display all of the files that were created on that date (you may need to scroll to see the files).

Lastly, while the reviews on Photo Downloader with Bridge are mixed, I'd much rather use Photo Downloader than Image Capture which (IMHO) is pretty much a waste of electrons. You can start Photo Downloader by clicking the camera icon in the top right region of Bridge's window.

Gary, thank you so much. The photos were in the "Pictures" folder, just like you mentioned.

I've had success with loading images using Photo Downloader when I connect my Canon 6D, but it has been spotty at best with my 5DMIII. 😞

Thank you for taking the time to respond thoroughly, it is tremendously helpful!

Take care,

Katie
