Question

I've added Metadata to files in Bridge. When I open the same file in Adobe CS6 it all disappears. What's going on?

The files are png's created in CS6. When I open them in CC 2017 the files are copyrighted and have the correct info in file info, but in CS6 it all disappears.

Can I be sure this information will be shared with third parties?

In either Bridge or Photoshop, use File > File Info and then use the “raw data” tab to inspect the metadata in the selected or open file.

You can also use the CLI driven ExifTool program for a second opinion on what metadata is in the file (the command line code would be very simple):

MAC OS:

exiftool 'OS-PATH-TO-IMAGE'

WIN OS:

exiftool "OS-PATH-TO-IMAGE"

Even when I click on the raw data tab all my metadata is gone. I've checked with CC 2017 and the metadata is still there. I just want to know this won't be able to happen for third parties. Is my photoshop set up wrong for CS6?

This does not make sense. If the metadata is not visible in File Info in the various fields in the other metadata tabs or the Raw Data tab, then there should be no metadata in the file, so you should not see metadata in Bridge. It could be a cache issue. I’d purge the cache for the current folder in both versions of Bridge, then they should both be reset to a clean slate (Tools > Cache > Purge Cache for Current Folder).
