Question

Include a smart collection into a standard (fixed) collection ?

Hi Community,

the title says it all. Is there a way to make a smart collection part of a fixed collection? Drag and drop does not seem work.

Background: usually I create a basic smart collection about an event. The selection criteria is based on a specific keyword. And every now and then I need to extend this basic collection with some more selected shots for other customers.

Adding this specific keyword is no solution - afterwards I will have to remember the added shots and have to remove the keyword.

Adding another temporary keyword is no solution as well - keyword handling in Bridge is as challening as brain surgery.... it's just too easy to mess them all up. So I strictly want to avoid unnecessary operational keywords.

My idea was to just temporarily create a fixed collection, add the smart basic collection, and add some more selected shots for my purpose. When I don't need the fixed collection any more I just delete it. No keyword messing up, the basic smart collection remains untouched.

Thanks for your comments and ideas!!

Drag and drop from a Smart Collection to a (fixed) Collection works fine here - just tested successfully.

This is on a Windows PC.

Thanks Erik for testing.

I tried again, but no success - pls see video.

Something I'm missing?

Thx.

What you are trying to do will not work. You need to view the contents of your Smart Collection in the Content Panel. Select all the image thumbnails in the Content Panel (or just some of them if appropriate) and drag those into your (fixed) Collection. That will do the trick.
