Question

JPEG ratings cannot be changed

I am having an issue with Bridge 2023 I have never had before. When I create JPEGS from raw (CR3) files on a MAC Studio or my M1 MACbook Pro - the ability to change ratings lock up. I can still change the ratings on the raws - but if I back the jpegs up and use them again - I am locked out of changing ratings. I had a long call with Adobe and the jpeg ratings could be changed in the moment, but as soon as I move them they lock up. Any clues? Is there suddenly a setting on my server or harddrives that needs to be changed. The issue is not accessing the jpegs, just changing the ratings in Bridge where they were created. I opened the jpegs I am having problems with in Lightroom and I could change the ratings.  I love Bridge and have used it for years. I don't want to create separate catalog.

Hi, @george@langestudio

Two questions: how are you saving them from Bridge: what is their travel. For example: in Bridge, rate them, then open in ACR, make adjustments, then, 1) Use the Convert and Save, or 2), open in PS, and save to JPG.

FWIW, I had no problems on this at all.

HOWEVER, you did say you put them on a Server. Servers and Bridge do not provide reliability. They can work one day, not the next. They work with one version of software X, but when software X+1 comes out, not so much.

HOWEVER, you did say that you can also put this on a hard drive with the same issue. You did mention that accessing the images was not an issue which implies that you gave Bridge permission to access external drives. (You did right?)

Also, just to make clear, you state: "but if I back the jpegs up and use them again" please define "back the jpegs up." can you please be specific what you're doing there. (I just want to make sure we're talking about the same thing.)
