Keyword search across multiple folders

Many thanks for the help, I'll try what you suggest.

I don't have Lightroom so don't know how keywords fit there. In the back of my head think Lightroom uses a table for keywords, while Bridge imbeds them in the photo file, so you might have to read up on that.

Vista reads the Bridge keywords just fine. I use this method to find a photo that meets the search criteria, see where it is located, and go there in Bridge. May be easier ways to do it however.

Thanks for this. I have Lightroom 1.4 and Vista Home Premium so I'll try them. If I do the keywording in Bridge will LR and Vista use those keywords or will I have to keyword separately in each system? If I do the search in Vista can I then read the search results into LR for batch editing? The alternative would seem to be to open each image individually in PS for editing.

With Bridge it will search multiple folders on the same drive, but don't think you can search across multiple drives (I read you can with Lightroom).

The search goes down the directory tree starting where you tell it. So therefore, start high enough to include all folders you want to look in.

If you have Vista you could search across multiple drives if they are indexed. Advanced search allows multiple keywords (tags), and it is very fast, much faster than Bridge.
