Keyword searching with AND operator

The latest Bridge version (14.1.0.257) offers keyword searching using an "AND" operator but Adobe did not give any examples of how to use it. There has always been the functionality to search using mulitple operators and different metadata but combining more than two of them was very limited.

Does anyone know how to use this feature?

Filter can handle any selection of images, folders, collections etc.

If you wish to filter more than one folder simultaneously, select their parent folder (assuming they all live in the same one),  and choose "View> Show images from Subfolders", then Filter works on the entire set.

Hi @Dave Swarthout

You can refer the documentation for the feature at https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/using/view-files-bridge.html#and-for-keywords, please check and try the feature.

Thanks,

Bridge Team

Thanks, got it.

It would be REALLY helpful if updates were explained more fully, or linked to a help section, in the Creative Cloud app so users could understand more clearly what the update is about. Photoshop, Bridge and LRC are being constantly updated and that's good, but I often find myself wondering how to actaully use the new features, as in this case.

This new feature is for Filtering on keywords, not for Searching.

You need the Filter Panel open. Select a set of images and in the Filter Panel, choose Keywords. You will see a list of all the keywords assigned to the selected images. Simply tick the keywords in the list upon which you wish to Filter. At the bottom you will see a box which you may tick to use AND rather than the default OR. The difference being that AND will show you images containing ALL of the selected keywords, whereas OR will show you images containing ANY of the selected keywords.

That's it!

Thanks for the explanation, Erik.
The feature is nice but of limited interest to me. The way this keyword filter works would be vastly improved if it could handle folders of images instead of only selected images in one folder.

What I really want in Bridge is a folder-level search function (Edit>Find) that doesn't do a brute force search every time, but uses a precompiled metadata database the way LRC does. I use keywords a lot and any feature mentioning keywords gets my attention.

Thanks again.
