Losing "focus" from content panel is bad behavior

Not sure when this changed, but it's very annoying. When an image is selected in the content panel, applying a keyword, filter, etc, changes the "focus" from the privew panel to the subsequent panel.

 

The result is using the arrow keys to selecte another image no longer works. While this may make enigneering sense with diffrent panels, Bridge is one program. The arrow keys should always select images unless an the actual area of the panel is selected.

 

See the attached video of this behavior. The origional version of Bridge didn't do this. This behavoir wastes time and is annoying.

 

To duplicate:

1) Select an image in the preview panel

2) Apply a keyword, filter, etc.

3) Use the left, right, up or down arrow keys. Note how the arrow keys just navigate in the panel just used. This is useless behavior.

    Hi Wes,

     

    I can't remember at any time when doing something in one panel and then moving over to do something in a different panel didn't change the focus to the other panel. How could you do something in a different panel if you were not focused on the other panel?

     

    Also, a small thing, but you are working in the Content Panel, not the Preview Panel.

    Preview/content panel corrected.

    This was not a problem when Bridge didn't have movable panels. I've been using Bridge for every gig for fifteen years, so I remember when Bridge didn't behave this way.

    Hi Wes,

     

    I assume you mean Panels that could not be moved out of Bridge's primary window and "float" in the user's monitor. In its first iteration in CS2 (in 2005), Bridge has always had moveable Panels; that's how one could make custom Workspaces.

     

    However, I have never seen it possible to work in the Content Panel, move the mouse over to (say) the Filter Panel (which can change the content in the Content Panel), and not lose focus in the Content Panel. Similarly, one cannot go over to the Keywords panel, click on a keyword, and not lose focus in the Content Panel. , when you do something in any other Panel, you change the focus from one Panel to the Panel you are working in.

     

    I'm sorry, but what you are describing has not been something that could be done — at least not in Bridge.
