Manually sorted files in a collection reset order after renaming the collection

Greetings, not sure if I'm the only one experiencing the following issue:

1- Add files to a collection (files from the same or different folders). The default sort order is by filename.

2- Sort the order of the files manually

3- Rename the collection (in the Collections panel)

--> after the collection is renamed, the manual sort order automatically resets to the sort by file name (the dropdown menu still shows "Sort manually". Switching back and forth between Sort by Filename and Sort Manually shows no difference, in other words the manual sort order is lost.

 

I attached a video recording with 6 files that shows the manual sorting being reset after renaming the collection.

 

I could not find any discussions online, I thought I'd post this here in case anyone has a similar issue and/or a solution. I'm running  Br 11.0.1.109 on Win 10.

Hi,

 

The mentioned issue is fixed in the latest patch release #13.0.1.583. Please install and confirm if that fixes the issue.

I have the same issue in version 13.0.4:

I Sort by file date > restart > Bridge change it to Filename.

I have the same issue with Bridge v13.0.0.562 on Mac 😭

I just upgraded to Bridge 2023 on a Win 10 machine and am having the same exact issue. I cleared my cache for the folder and reset my Bridge preferences. Nothing helped. It is really eating into my workflow and wasting a lot of time. Every time I leave a folder and come back to it, the images are sorted "by filename" even though "sort manually" is checked. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

    It takes so much extra time in my workflow as well. If anyone has solutions for Mac as well it would be much appreciated.

    Works correctly here.

    Try clearing your cache for the folder and resetting your Bridge preferences

    Thanks, but that didn't change the issue.

    I did more testing, it's even stranger than I initially thought: Each collection name keeps it's own manual sort order.

    For example:

    - Create a collection name "test 1" with a few files

    - Manually change the sort order (let's call this manual sort order "1" for the discussion)

    - Rename the collection to "test 2" --> the sort order is now back to alphabetical

    - Manually change the sort order (let's call this manual sort order "2" for the discussion)

    - Rename the collection back to "test 1" --> now the sort order reverted to the "order 1" which was set when the collection was named "test 1"

     

    Anyone can confirm that it's the expected behavior? Or anyone can confirm it is not expected and what could be the cause?

      I'm having a related issue a year and a half later. My manual sort in a collection reverts to the original order even if I click out of—and back into—the collection in question. Any solution to this issue?
