Question

Missing key words in Metadata - just vanishes

I use bridge to apply my metabata including key words.

Ther are some file that the data just does not seem to want to attach to.

I keyword it - wait to see the update appears in the metadata window and lock the file.

When I go back to the file (even just a minute or so later the data is gone, even though the file is still locked)

Currntly have about 40 image that this is happening on but may be more in other folders.

What am I doing wrong, if anything?

Hello, is it only for keyboards, could you try other fields like description or city, state...

What do you mean by "and lock the file"?

Does it work if you use File>File info (CTRL+i)?

Do you get an error message.

Do you have third party software running?

Are all kinds of files affected? which ones?

Hello, is it only for keyboards, could you try other fields like description or city, state...Can impact more than Keywords are most impacted...prpbably becsaue I come back later to add this in images I am keeping(?)

I right click on the image and select Lock Item - produces a pad lock upper RHS of image and prevents editing

(if done to fast will prevent metadata from writing and give error message - so my problem is not caused by this)

Just tried the File>File info (CTRL+i) - seems to have worked on 2 images - data appears to have stuck, can also be seen in properties if I view the file in file manager - will check back later...

No Error mesages - just vanished data

Will often have other program open on background i.e. photoshop, chrome, oulook

Jpg files only as far as I know

Hi Joanne,

By any chance are you on Catalina on a Mac? If so, you need to let Bridge have access to the drive and/or folder that your images are in. Catalina introduced a number of security changes that affect programs from having access to files, Bridge is one of the programs.
