Question

Moved images and now keywords do not show

I recently moved all my images (partially keyworded) to a new folder that gets backed up to an online service.

I wnet to search by keyword today and it seems that none of the images now have keywords! The keyword XML file is still present. I thought the keywords for an image were in the metadata so why can it no longer find them?

Keywords must be added to a file to have them available. The Keyword panel is simply keywords that can be assigned.

I know. I added keywords to a large number of files some time ago. I then moved the files to a new location - the files still have the keywoords in their metadata but Bridge no longer sees that. I want to know how I can force Bridge to use the keywords that are already attached to images - if I can't then a large amount of effort is wasted!

An update - I have confirmed that I have a keyword file in AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CC 2019 and it looks valid. I have checked a few images and they seem to have keywords in them - EXIFDATA shows for one image (of my dog Scout)

Getting the full keyword list in the keyword panel but the Filter panel shows only 1 keyword which is one I just added to an image

Solved it (mostly). The issue as I stated was that I had a correct list of keywords but there seemed to be index. So if I right clicked on a keyword in the keyword list and selected Find I got this:

and by selecting Include non-indexed files it searched all my images and rebuilt the index correctly!
