Question

No Valid Files Found

Up until two days ago I'd use adobe bridge to download raw photos from my canon 40D and now I'm only getting 'No Valid Files Found'. I've tried card readers, new CF cards, resetting bridge and all still giving me the same message. The only thing new in this situation is the lasted creative cloud update for bridge and camera raw.

I'm using Bridge 2020 and connecting a Fuji X-T100 and photo downloader offers the No Valid Files Found when I connect. If I close the downloader and choose import from device in Bridge it works fine. Not sure what the problem is...

gary_sc offered solution does not work so would love to hear if anyone has found a fix.

Hi Irtogstad,

Just out of curiosity, what OS are you using?

Thanks,

Hi Leta,

OK, that's what I thought. The problem is "Permissions." Catalina has much more restrictive permissions into folders than previous operating systems to help prevent and/or limit viruses and other invations.

Please try the following:

In the Finder select the folder that you're documetns/images are contained in and press Command-i (i for information). A new window will pop up on the left side of the screen. On the bottom you will see a region called "Sharing & Permissions:"

To do anything here, you need to unlock the padlock on the bottom right. Click it and a window will pop up asking you for your authorization (your Mac password). Once that's done, clic on the "Everyone" and on the right change "Read only," to "Read & Write."

Now, if there are folders inside this, go to the dropdown gear below and select "Apply to enclosed items..." and you can save yourself some time.

HOWEVER: be judicious when you do this. This should ONLY be done if there are nothing but documents inside these folders. Never ever do this if there are applications or preferences or other application-related files. Don't ask me how I know this to be true. Otherwise, I do this all the time as necessary.

Let us know if this does it
