Open in Camera Raw option not available for some files in Bridge

I have a folder of 126 downloaded JPG files in Bridge (ver.11.1.1.185); I'm selecting and opening files from this folder for editing in PS by right-clicking and choosing "Open in Camera Raw." Part way through the folder I encounter a group of 9 files for which the "Open in Camera Raw" is not available. Nothing had been done to these 9 files prior to trying to open them in ACR. The files prior to and following the 9 all have the ACR (ver.13.4.0.872) option. Any ideas what's happening here? I'm working on a 27" iMac with Mojave.

Thanks

Oh, wait a minute, did you dump the cache for this folder?

Tools -> Cache -> Purge cache for "(whatever)" folder.

Let me know

This worked! Thanks Gary.

I suspect that something in the transfer of the files from camera SD card to card reader to computer created abnormalities in some of the files (as it turns out 10 out of 128 files) that somehow confused Bridge. Anyway, Gary's suggestion to use the "Tools/Cache" function in Bridge to purge the cache did the trick. All files now show the "Open in Camera Raw" option with Rt. Click.

One extra hint/suggestion: I do not know if you work with TIF files but while you can open a TIF file in ACR, you cannot open a TIF file with layers. The ACR option will just not show up. If you flatten the TIF so it's back to just the Background layer, you still have to purge the cache for that folder for ACR to recogize that the file has changed.

Just to let you know on that issue.

Best, glad I could help

Hi Learningful,

Do you mind sharing one or two of these errant JPGs? If you can place the file(s) into a Dropbox and sending me a link via a DM, I'd be happy to take a look.

My suspicion is that there's some issue with these files.

Best,

Gary

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this issue with Bridge. Could you please try resetting the preferences of Bridge and let us know if it helps? https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/troubleshoot-errors-freezes-bridge.html

Thanks Sahil. I reset the RAW preferences, but still having the same issue. This is not a debilitating issue; it just seems bizarre that for two consecutive images, one shows the option (on rt click) to open in Camera Raw, and next does not. They are both JPEGs, of the same scene, captured less than a minute apart. All images in the folder were imported via Lightroom at the same time. No other variables that I can determine, other than minor exposure adjustments in-camera prior to capture.
