Out of memory errors after update

I recently updated to bridge 8.1.0.xxx on my mac and now when I'm loading up a photo album, bridge is using up a ton of memory and eventually crashes. Previously in activity monitor, memory pressure would never go beyond green. Now it stays in the yellow and red and uses an enormous amount of "swap". I have tried to purge the cache and restart the computer. I'm a photographer and process large amounts of raw photos daily, but the issue has only started after the update.

Computer is an iMac on High Sierra

4 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB RAM

AMD Radeon R9 M395 2048 MB
