Output to pdf opens in Illustrator

When I create a pdf in Bridge>Output it opens in Illustrator.  This means Illustrator takes over my machine as it take forever to open and I can't figure out what it is doing anyhow.  Why doesn't it open in Preview, which is the default application?

Check your Bridge > Preferences > File Type Associations (which may be different to your OS level associations).

.....and then the pages are aligned horizontally instead of vertically.
