Painfully slow Bridge on Macbook Pro 16

Since getting a new mbp16, bridge has become almost impossible to use efficiently. Even trying to resize a window results in a spinning beach ball. There's even a delay in selecting an image.
Any ideas?

I've tried switching off the GPU, but that makes no difference.

If someone could outline an ideal performance setting I could try that.

I'm on 10.15.3, 2.4Ghz 8 core Intel Core i9, 32 Gb ram, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8Gb, Intel 630 1536Mb

Used with ACR almost exclusively for .NEF files
