Performance Issues on Bridge 2023

Since we updated from last bridge 2022 to 2023 we have extreme performance issues.

We save all our photos on a server, so the bridge always load them from our local server.

This works fine all the time. Since 2023 it take extrem more time for loading and generating the inital thumbnails and previews. I don't know what they changed but we can't use this version productiv.

So we installed 2022 additional and use it again. It works like a charm.

Hi, @DigitaleFotografien; please keep in mind that Bridge was never designed to work on a Server. That doesn't mean it can't, but when there are issues, as you've noticed with the change from Bridge 2022 to Bridge 2023, there's nothing for Adobe to tweak to make it work better. This type of issue is not all that uncommon in the software game where some software can do things it was not intended for, but once some change occurs (update in OS, the application, or some other software on the computer that was providing some sort of catalyst for the functionality), the capability drops or fails in performance, such as you're observing here.

I see you have three options:

1) Revert back to Bridge 2022 as you have done, which means you will also need to revert back to Photoshop 2022 to maintain the connection links between Bridge and Photoshop.

Option 2) manually download all the files you may need on a given project onto a local hard drive (if you're on a Mac, be sure to give Bridge the proper permissions for access to any external drives). Work on the files as needed, and then once complete, upload the files back to the server. Pain? Yes, but it does allow you to work with both Bridge 2023 AND PS 2023 (and the latest ACR).

Option 3) invest in a Photo DAM that is designed to work with servers. These are not necessarily cheap but will provide you with all you need to get your work done without issues. I've never worked within a company with servers, so I cannot make any recommendations. I'm very sorry.

Good luck!
