Photo downloader agonizingly slow

About 2 or 3 months ago, Adobe Bridge - Photo downloader slowed to a crawl on my system (Apple Macbook Pro with M1 chip). It takes a ridiculously long time for the thumbnails to generate. Pressing buttons such as UnCheck All, Choose, or Get Media often has no immediate effect (the button will gray out when pressed and nothing happens). For example, it took 16 minutes for photo downloader to generate thumbnails for the 1173 files (most of them basic JPEGs) on an SD card. Is there a fix or a workaround?

Just FYI…a good place to start would be for Adobe to make Photo Downloader native on Apple Silicon. Although that shouldn’t be the whole explanation for the slowdown, because Rosetta should still run it quickly enough. There is probably still another problem somewhere.

Did you have any luck?  I've had the same issue for the past year.  Photo downloader is still my preferred way to ingest photos.

No - I haven't received any answers and the downloader is still agonizingly slow. It's amazing to me that a product supposedly meant for professionals would have an issue such as this that is not resolved.
