Photo Downloader does not appear

Since downloading Bridge and PS on a new Macbook Pro 14" the Photo Downloader does not load at all when trying to obtain photos from my camera.

I have followed all of the steps for using the Downloader in Preferences but it makes no difference.

Any thoughts anyone?
