Purge Cache?

The attached dialogue came up and i want to ask what exactly does Purge Cashe do?

The Bridge Cache holds image preview, metadata etc. to speed up browsing, display, searching etc.

The Cache file size will grow over time.

It's a balancing act, 30 days is the default.

What would be the optimum settings if a user wants Bridge to use the minimum size for caching?
